All about Lips

Being a brown girl originally from Sri Lanka, genetically I don’t have the most amazing rosy lips. Though I love my thick lips, They are naturally darker than I want them to be. Especially my upper lip looks like I am a heavy smoker (Though I don’t smoke at all). They are often chipped, Cracked & Dry.

So I was always concerned about them. When I moved to Singapore, my roommate and good friend Khatija told me not to worry as her sister too had these issues but she took care of her lips with right products and now they look amazing. SHE WAS RIGHT!

Now my lips look better than ever and I am very happy with them. So this is a list of products I currently use to make my lips look fabulous.

1. Maybelline Lip Balm.

Using a good Lip balm is the KEY to having healthy lips. I noticed a drastic improvement in my Lip-texture and colour after I started to use a good lip balm more frequently. So If you want to have perfect lips you MUST make it a daily Habit. Not only Thin and dry lips turn Plumped and moisturised but also Lip balm will help your chapped and dry lips to hydrate & heal faster.

I know there are a lot of good products out there but I personally fell in love with Maybelline BabyLips, As they not only hydrate my lips but also have a little tint of pink as well. Plus it’s really affordable too. There are two kids I use,

2. Lush lip scrub ‘bubblegum

The reason you need a Lip scrub is because Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells and evens out your lip tone. So, your lips will look fresh, smooth, and reddish. My personal favourite is Lush Lip Scrub in ‘Bubblegum’ flavour. It’s so awesome I always end up tasting the scrub as its so sweet. My sister is the one who made me use this and I am in love with it ever since.

3. MAC lip conditioner

When I travel my lips get worse. Chipped, Cracked and super dry. Once when I was doing my shopping in an airport (I Love Shopping for Makeup, Perfumes & Beauty products at airports as they have the best deals and collections) the sales lady at the MAC store saw my lips (I was very embarrassed) and recommended MAC Lip Conditioner. You just need to apply this to your lips 20 mins before you apply your Lip colour, and it will smoothen out your lip texture and act as a lip primer too. I really love this product and I use this a lot when I travel.

4. Revlon lip Stain (Matte)

I use this in my Day-to-day life when I am not wearing heavy makeup. As it also acts as a lip moisturiser and gives a long lasting colour for my lips. And the best part is that it’s Matte. (I almost only wear matte lips) If you have a similar skin colour as me, I recommend the darker colours as the lighter ones don’t really match my skin. my go-to colour is “StandOut”.

5. MAC lipstick (Matte)

I don’t have to tell you how everyone loves MAC lip colours. I am one of those people too. However, I only have matte colours as I mentioned above I almost always wear matte. So out of all the colours, I own these 3 are my absolute favourites. I especially use them when I am late and don’t have time to pick as they go with my skin tone very well plus works with almost all my outfits.

DIVA A55 – This colour is super trendy these days and this looks amazing on Brown skin.
TWIG A33 – This is usually my Nude look. It has a bit of a pinkish shade which gives my lips the perfect natural look.
FLAT OUT FABULOUS – This is my All time favourite MAC Color.
